Mission Statement:
Develop a united economic development effort for the Seguin area. Coordinate economic development efforts with the Seguin Economic Development Corporation (SEDC).
1. Provide on-going training to the Economic Development Marketing Team to help the Seguin Economic Development
Council (SEDC) with prospects considering locating or expanding in the Seguin area.
- Identify Marketing Team Members as vacancies occur
- Provide formal training in April 2006
2. Create a funding source to fund activities and projects of the committee.
- Provide support to the New Year's Gala Committee
- Share profits of the Gala as set forth in The Chamber's Annual Budget
3. Work with New Braunfels and San Marcos Chambers to conduct an Occupational Demand Survey.
- Meet with New Braunfels and San Marcos Chambers by November 30
- Develop and conduct survey by December 31
- Provide results of survey to the Central Texas Technology Center
4. Create a closer working relationship between the committee and the City of Seguin and the SEDC.
- Invite representatives for the City and SEDC to monthly committee meetings
- Identify committee-meeting times convenient to City and SEDC representatives
- Address as agenda items: Annexation and Infrastructure Expansion into the annexed area and ETJ
5. Maintain membership and participation in the Economic Development Partnership at Central Texas (EDPACT) with the New Braunfels and San Marcos Chambers to recruit new jobs to the Central-Texas Corridor.
- Chamber President will serve on the EDPACT Board of Directors
6. Support the expansion of the Central Texas Technology Center and help it to provide assistance to local manufacturers.
7. Identify and address regional "water issues."
- Join the Guadalupe Basin Coalition & encourage the City of Seguin and Guadalupe County to join the Coalition
- Invite appropriate speakers to committee meetings to discuss water issues
- Coordinate efforts and activities with The Chamber's Governmental Affairs Committee
8. Marketing Seguin as a retirement destination.
- Launch the Seguin Health and Retirement Endeavor (SHARE) project in November 2005
- Identify the "key players" in the project and begin strategic planning in January 2006
- Conduct "focus group sessions" for key player groups starting in March 2006
- Identify funding sources by May 2006
- Create marketing strategies by June 2006
- Institute marketing strategies by August 2006
9. Insure that the development process in the City of Seguin is conducive to future growth and development.
- Coordinate efforts to improve the process with the Seguin Area Builders Association. Meet with them by Nov. 2006
- Meet with city officials to offer assistance to the city's Contractor's Advisory Board as appropriate. Meet with the
appropriate city official by November 2006
- Work with the city to identify the critical problems in the process and identify solutions. Invite the appropriate city
official to attend committee meetings
10. Evaluate and, when appropriate, encourage annexation and infrastructure expansion into annexed areas and ETJ.
