Mrs. Abbott has a passion for helping others. Her signature initiative as First Lady combines the two things that she is most passionate about – Texas and philanthropy. She calls it Texanthropy, and through it she promotes volunteerism and service to others across Texas.
She has also partnered with the Texas Department of Family andProtective Services on a similar initiative – Network of Nurture – to raise awareness about the ways Texans can support the children and families in the state’s child welfare system.
Incoming Chair of the Board Elaine Bennett of Guadalupe Regional Medical Foundation notes that Mrs. Abbott is the perfect choice for the Chamber keynote speaker this year, as she is an inspiring role model who believes everyone is called to serve others through volunteer work and philanthropy to enrich the lives of Texans.
“Both of her initiatives promote volunteerism and service,” Bennett said. “The Seguin Chamber mirrors those values as reflected by the essential volunteer Ambassador group that powers our organization, along with serving others including our local businesses, developing a future regional workforce, and enriching the community as a result.”
The 98th Annual Chamber Banquet will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 19, at the Seguin Coliseum. Social Hour begins at 6 p.m. Tickets are $40 in advance and available now at here and at 116 N. Camp St. Sponsorship opportunities are available and sponsorship levels offer a variety of benefits for the evening.
