The Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce announced this week that results of the five-week Shop Seguin Save Big promotion were impressive.

The promotion invited shoppers who spent at least $25 in one of the 20 participating shops to enter a weekly drawing for a $25 gift certificate to a randomly drawn shop.

The first and second week’s entry forms totaled 166 each, followed by 193 the third week, then 328 the fourth week, said Dana Overstreet, director of communications at the Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce. “Retailers turned in 566 entry forms in the fifth and final week and that means that 1,419 shoppers spent at least $25, which also means there was an infusion of at least $35,475 in Seguin stores in the past five weeks.”

Participants were Bling, Cascades, Cristina Rivera LMT, Dietz Flower Shop, Fashion Magic Boutique, Gift & Gourmet, GNC, Graci's Gold, Kat & Mouse Antiques, Keepers Interiors, Kinfolk Creations, Kolbe Flower Shop, Little Gen's Boutique, San Anthony Jewelry, Seguin Cigar, Serenity Boutique, Thunderpaws Canine Solutions and You're So Crafty.

This is the Chamber’s third year of hosting the Shop Seguin Save Big event, Overstreet said. “And it just keeps growing – it’s so exciting to help spread the word about the wonderful shopping opportunities right here in Seguin.”

At the end of the five weeks, all entry forms were put in a big hopper and one person’s name was drawn to win a $25 gift certificate from all 20 retailers. “We called Kera Caraway this morning and she was very excited – and a little disbelieving – that she had won,” Overstreet said.

The Chamber also has produced a Holiday Shopping Guide listing 33 Chamber-member retailers for shoppers to use as a gift guide. “We also encourage folks to consider local restaurants and service providers and the gift certificate opportunities they provide,” she said.
