A Captivating Literary Day with Dr. Carmen Tafolla - Postponed due to current COVID Omicron Surge TBD
Teatro De Artes De Juan Seguin is proud to host distinguished poet and children’s author, Dr. Carmen Tafolla, for a Captivating Day of performance, storytelling, and poetry. at the Seguin Public Library and Teatro’s Cultural Arts Center located at 921 W. New Braunfels Seguin, TX.
In partnership with the Seguin Public Library, Dr. Tafolla will begin her Captivating Literary Day with a hybrid presentation (online and in person) at the Seguin Public Library. The library will be hosting her for a reading of her latest publications, La Ultima Mariposa, 1:30PM Friday, January 21, 2022. La Última Mariposa is a children’s book aimed to teach environmental awareness, and lessons about love and friendship. She will hold a discussion with participating students and conduct a poetry/metaphor writing exercise about the story.
The author of more than 30 books and a Professor of Transformative Children’s Literature at UT San Antonio, Dr. Carmen Tafolla holds a Ph.D. in Bilingual Education from the University of Texas and a B.A. , M.A. , and a Doctorate Honoris Causa in Humane Letters from Austin College. Tafolla has performed her one-woman show throughout the Americas, Europe, and New Zealand, and her work appears internationally in textbooks, newspapers, journals, magazines, elementary school Big Books & posters on city buses, and engraved on sidewalks and museum walls. Tafolla credits the community around her with her inspiration and her training, and says her works are inspired by “ancestors whispering over my shoulder.”

Teatro De Artes De Juan Seguin was founded on July 9, 1982 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The mission of Teatro De Artes De Juan Seguin is to promote a better understanding of the Mexican-American culture by the teaching, study, practice, and performance of the arts.
