    About Us

In the 153 years since Pastor Johannes Wohlschegel and 19 families established Emanuel’s Lutheran Church, a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (www.elca.org), our congregation has moved forward in faith to be the church God calls us to be by declaring God’s love, serving others, and embracing all. We have done so in times of great uncertainty – from the fallout of the American Civil War through the Great Depression to our current national strife and pandemic weariness. We have done so as Seguin has grown from a small town of 830 people in 1870 to today’s population boom in the rapidly expanding Austin-San Antonio Corridor. No matter the challenges of the day, God has always been faithfully present with the people of Emanuel’s, constantly bringing new life to our ministry. Through it all, we have celebrated baptisms and confirmations, shared God’s Word and the Lord’s Supper, and provided prayer, support, and comfort for those in need. If those who stepped forward in faith all those years ago could hear the echo of those faithful footsteps today, they would surely celebrate all that God has done, and know that God’s plan for Emanuel’s Lutheran Church continues. We invite you to join us every Sunday at 10:30am for worship, our education hour just before starting at 9am, or throughout the week for any number of our outreach programs, support and educational groups, youth and family outings, and fellowship events.
